The displayed level is a calculated balance rather than a physical sensor reading. Start with a measured opening level, record deliveries into the tank and log the fuel issued to equipment to keep the estimate current.
Recent usage provides an average daily burn rate and projected run-out date. A chosen low-fuel threshold can also notify selected team members before the tank reaches a level that could interrupt work.

The stock calculation, with a real example
Begin with a physical opening measurement. Every recorded delivery adds stock and every recorded withdrawal reduces it.
Calculated stock = opening level + deliveries − withdrawals
